Microdermabrasion in Chandler, AZ is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment that offers safe and controlled skin abrasion. This procedure utilizes micro crystals of high medical grade which are dispersed onto the skins surface to mildly abrade the skins tissue. The exfoliated skin and used crystals are vacuumed into a sealed waste container which is then disposed of.
Microdermabrasion is safe and effective for all skin types. Most commonly treated are:

Your skin is composed of two main layers. The epidermis is the outermost layer, composed primarily of dead skin cells atop a layer of maturing cells. Below this lies the stratum corneum, and as your topmost skin layer it serves as a barrier between the world and the rest of your skin. It’s within the stratum corneum where you’ll find many skin imperfections including fine lines and blemishes.
Microdermabrasion serves to break up the stratum corneum, causing your body to replace damaged skin cells with new ones. This stimulates an increase in oxygen production as well, and shortly after a treatment you’ll be treated to smoother skin and a reduction in sun damage, fine lines, and blemishes. Some studies have found that repeated sessions can even stimulate growth in lower skin layers, increasing the likelihood that deeper damage will be repaired over time.
The number of treatments needed will be discussed at your initial consultation. Treatment numbers vary depending on the area and skin condition treated. Treatments are usually performed in six or more sessions anywhere from one to six weeks apart. The closer the treatments are performed together the faster the results.
Microdermabrasion has different settings designed for more sensitive or even more resilient skin types. The most aggressive treatments are going to be combined with a chemical peel. See chemical peels for more details.
The skin will first be cleaned and toned, then treated. The microdermabrasion is done in one to three passes over the targeted area. There is a mild tingling from the exfoliation of the crystals and the suction of the vacuum, but that is to be expected.
The treatment will end with removal of the crystals and once that is completed an application of a moisturizing masque and sun block will be applied. Due to the broken up stratum corneum, moisturizer will penetrate the lower skin levels, providing increased effectiveness in non-microdermabraded layers.
The skin may turn pink for about 1-24 hours following the treatment. Some patients may experience a light peeling after more aggressive treatments. This is a non-surgical procedure that does not require the use of anesthetic and very little to no down time.
