An Estheticians Anti-Aging Must Haves
Find out what our experienced Esthetician says is a must have to fight the signs of aging
There’s a reason this one gets repeated over and over. Our skin simply cannot handle continuous exposure to UVA and UVB rays. A whopping 95% of the signs of aging are due to the harmful rays of the sun, not to mention the obvious one – skin cancer. And just to make things even more fun, not all sunscreens are safe, so choose wisely! Chemical SPF has been suspected of foul play when it comes to cancers. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are much safer for everyday use. Powdered mineral SPF contains both ingredients, is easy to use and is good for your skin.
#2. Nightly Eye Cream
The skin around our eyes is very thin and susceptible to water loss throughout the day. Keep this area hydrated and happy because dehydration leads to premature fine lines and wrinkles. Dark circles and puffiness can indicate seasonal allergies, food allergies, stress, lack of sleep and/or dehydration so it is important to eat right, get plenty of rest and be proactive about hydration!
#3. Proper Home care
A good daily routine is essential, but the key is to keep it simple! Four main steps are all you need. A gentle cleanser, a moisturizer, an eye cream, and a sunscreen will do the trick. If you have time for more, add in a Green Tea with Vitamin C serum and a Toner to boost your skin health. Those extra antioxidants and nutrients can make all the difference in the tone, balance and glow of your skin.
#4. Satin Pillow Cases
Yes, I said satin. Did you know that cotton pulls moisture out of the skin and hair causing split ends and wrinkles? Yikes! Swap your old cotton pillowcases for some silk or satin which will cause less friction and happen to be more comfortable to boot.
#5. Professional Exfoliation
Once a month treat your face to a peel, shave or microderm. A professional exfoliation is deeper than one you can do at home and will kick your skin cell turnover into high gear! This reduces fine lines, wrinkles, pore size, scarring, and sun spots. Think of it as necessary tune-up for the overall life and health of your most visible asset.
